Chico California

BIDWELL MANSION
Bidwell mansion, located at 525 Esplanade in Chico, California, was the home of General John Bidwell and Annie Bidwell from late 1868 until 1900, when Gen. Bidwell died. Annie continued to live there until her death in 1918. Today tours are provided sharing the history of chico and displaying the craftsmanship of the past

DOWNTOWN CITY PLAZA
Chico’s Downtown City Plaza located in the heart of downtown Chico is the go to place for local residents. Each year during spring/summer the plaza comes to life with events like Thursday Night Market where local vendors present their products and services, from local farmers, Food vendors, arts and crafts, restaurants and live music, or the Friday night festival where local bands perform on the pavilion while residents eat, dance or just sit and enjoy the music while the young at heart enjoy playing in the water feature.
UPPER BIDWELL PARK
Bidwell Park may very well be the crown jewel of Chico, being one of the largest municipal parks in the country. Bidwell park was donated by Annie Bidwell in 1905 consisting of nearly 2,500 acres. Today through land purchases by the city of Chico the park has grown to 3,670 acres. The park includes some of the best swimming holes and hiking trails in the country thanks to its diverse terrain formed by lava flows of Mt. Lassen and cut out by Big Chico creek, offering shallow pools to deep holes with steep cliffs for the adventurous diver.
